Live music, fun and heat: Thousands expected to head downtown for the Jacksonville Jazz Festival

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Thousands of people are expected to endure the heat for Jazz Fest 2024, a free three-day concert in downtown Jacksonville.

Jazz Fest has seen many locations, from the Duval courthouse lawn to Riverfront Plaza, the former site of The Landing.

This year it kicks off with two stages at Daily’s Place and Metropolitan Park.

“The theme is always come early when you come downtown,” City of Jacksonville’s Chief of Sports & Entertainment Alex Alston said.

Some roads will also be closed for food trucks and vendors, but there will be plenty of parking at the lots surrounding Daily’s Place and the stadium.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be very eventful, but it will also be hot.

Temperatures will peak into the 90s all weekend and will feel even hotter.

There will be four JTA cooling buses for anyone who needs a break from the heat, plus water and cold beverages.

There will also be a chance to shop.

Vendors like Latisha, who traveled from Atlanta, is one of many at Jazz Fest. This is her first time at this event.

“We have jewelry, handbags, handmade cowboy hats, and a variety of stuff,” Latisha said.

Sound checks are complete, vendors are ready, Jazz lovers are excited for good live music, and the city is ready to host one of its biggest annual events.

Don’t forget to bring a chair, along with your water.

Some popular performers include Ritenour and Grusin and Brain McKnight who perform on Friday night.
